Taking Care of Those Cracking Dry Feet

We always seem to remember to take good care of our hands and face by always trying to keep them moisturized with a variety of different lotions and cleansing products. But it sometimes seems as if our feet simply go unnoticed until they become irritated, uncomfortable with really dry skin. Really dry feet can get itchy as well as callused. This can then lead to flaking, cracking and even soreness. So, it's important to not forget your feet and treat them the same way as your hands and face. You're feet will love you for it.

To smooth the dry and hardened skin on your feet you can use a double sided foot file. These foot files can be easily found at your local drug store and they don't cost very much money either. Take this file and take the coarse side of it and use it lengthwise up against the bottom of your foot. Make sure that you pay special attention to the problem areas like the heels and other spots with calluses. Now you will take the file and rub it up and down along all the hard areas by applying just as much pressure as you can before it becomes uncomfortable. Do this until these areas are softer.

After you have finished using the coarse side of the file on your feet, turn it over and use the finer side of the file. This is so you can even out the skin that you just softened. Take the file and move it in a circular fashion. Start with your heel and then work all around the sole of your entire foot. Apply as much pressure as you can stand and make sure to stop if you feel pain or see any redness.

When you are done with the file you then should soak your feet in something large that is filled with warm water. You will be able to then rinse off all the residue that was left on your feet from the filing. Soak for a few minutes in the water and then take your feet out of the water and use a foot or even a body scrub and put it all over your feet starting with your soles. Make sure to get your toes and in between them, the top of your feet as well as your ankles. Then massage the scrub into your feet by using circular motions. This will help to get rid of any left over dead skin.

Now you can go ahead and rinse your feet of all the scrub and then pat them dry with a nice clean towel. After your feet are nice and dry, you should take a rich and thick lotion and massage this into your feet as well. There are some lotions just for feet and this might be what you would rather use.

When you are done massaging the lotion into your feet you should grab a pair of clean cotton socks and put them on your feet. These socks will help to keep your feet clean while you give the lotion time to completely sink into your skin. The socks also will help your feet to absorb the lotion a lot better too.

Hi. What was the most valuable source when writing this report, you used? I have a project at school that's on a similar topic and I am looking for advice regarding where to begin my research. Thank you for the help! Julie-
